Key stakeholders came together to reflect on CCDB’s vision, mission, and future priorities in response to the changing development landscape. Through meaningful discussions and participatory sessions, participants identified strategic opportunities, explored organizational challenges, and shared valuable recommendations for strengthening CCDB’s long-term impact.

This workshop marked an important step toward shaping a forward-looking strategic framework that will guide CCDB to remain resilient, responsive, and better prepared to address future challenges while continuing its mission of service and development.

The objective of the exposure visit was to offer visitors practical insights into climate action in Bangladesh, while showcasing the initiatives undertaken by CCDB to foster community empowerment and raise awareness in addressing local challenges.
A total of 13 participants from the PEEDA (04 representatives) and its local partner organizations (09 representatives) of Nepal visited Bangladesh:

On 20 April, the visitors had a meetin with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and relevant colleagues. Juliate Keya Malakar, Executive Director of CCDB, highlighted the organizational goals, objectives, and motto and mentioned that the RECAP project can strengthen regional collaboration and benefit participating countries.

On 21 April, a field visit to the CCDB Climate Centre in Gazipur allowed the Nepalese team to explore climate adaptation and mitigation technologies and assess their practical applications. Following the visit, they shared insights, experiences, and potential for replicating these solutions in their own country.
On 22 April, the visitors met with representatives of CCDB’s local partner organizations under the RECAP project in an interactive session, exchanging views and feedback. They noted that RECAP can strengthen partners’ capacity for effective climate action across four South Asian countries and emphasized continued engagement with government stakeholders to position RECAP for long-term adaptation and resilience planning.

On 23 April, the team visited the CCDB field office in Manikganj to observe community-based adaptation practices, a women’s forum, climate-resilient farming techniques, and environment-friendly cooking solutions that contribute to climate resilience and livelihood improvement.

Through the exposure visit to Bangladesh, participants from PEEDA and its local partner organizations learned how CCDB has been working on climate change and contributing to the climate change intervention sector. Now, it is expected that the visiting team members will use these in their own work areas and replicate and innovate for climate action. Besides, the visit will strengthen the partnership among the CCDB, PEEDA, and RECAP’s local partner organizations to achieve BftW’s climate goals in South Asia.

The workshop accumulated the four countries’ understanding of climate change, discussed the 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆-𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, prepared the 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗧𝗼𝗖), and highlighted the formulation of the 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 (𝗣𝗜𝗚). A coordination mechanism was developed during the workshop to achieve the expected project goal and achievements. The workshop participants also visited 𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗗, 𝗟𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗽𝘂𝗿, on August 01 to gain experience with 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 to reduce climate risks.

Climate change has become the key challenge to our community, national, regional, and global development efforts. It is appearing as the biggest threat to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. NGOs and CSOs engaged in climate change issues often face limitations in capacity, knowledge, and technical expertise, which hinder their ability to develop practical project proposals for securing climate financing. There are also networking and upscaling gaps among the partner organizations, which is a barrier for them to mainstream climate change projects, considering the context of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan.

The 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣 project will 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 for effective 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 in South Asia. The project will implement 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 these organizations with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to combat the effects of climate change. For this, the consortium and participatory learning sharing approach will be applied to ensure the active participation of the targeted CSOs in knowledge exchange and systematic dissemination of the knowledge. The targeted partner organizations under the project are expected to develop a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 for climate change interventions in South Asia, aligning with 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱’𝘀 climate goals.

In his keynote remarks, the Chief Guest stressed the government’s initiatives to foster collaboration between government institutions, academia, and the private sector in tackling climate change. He also highlighted the urgent need to develop 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 to strengthen Bangladesh’s capacity for climate solutions.

The discussions highlighted:

• 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵’𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀–from rising sea levels to erratic floods and cyclones, the risks are real and demand urgent action.
• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆–strengthening our institutions, knowledge base, and skilled human resources is key to tackling the climate crisis effectively.
• 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀–government, academia, civil society, and the private sector must come together to create holistic and sustainable solutions.
• 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲–climate-resilient adaptation, a just energy transition, and fair access to international climate finance are essential for protecting communities and securing Bangladesh’s rightful place in global climate negotiations.

The seminar was 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗖𝗗𝗕 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗜𝗠, with both institutions presenting their ongoing activities to support Bangladesh’s climate journey.

Together, we are working to ensure that Bangladesh’s voice is stronger and more effective in the global climate arena at 𝗖𝗢𝗣 𝟯𝟬.

A strategic team from CCDB, including the Executive Director, Head of MEL, and Project Manager, attended a five-days Project Management and Steering Committee Meeting of the ENGAGE Project in Nepal from 1–5 September 2025.

The meeting was held at 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁,  𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘁, 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹, with the following key objectives:

• Reconnecting and deepening trust and collaboration among partners
• Reflecting on lessons learned, including both challenges and successes, throughout the ENGAGE journey
• Reviewing the collective journey and contributing inputs to shape the next phase of the work
• Exploring opportunities for sustained partnership and collaboration beyond the ENGAGE Project

The event brought together all five implementing partners of the ENGAGE Project, including:

The five-days’ engagement created a vibrant environment to look back in order to move forward. Through interactive sessions, partners shared creative ideas that will support the Coady Institute in shaping the next phase of the ENGAGE Project.

RECAP is a multi-country initiative being implemented in 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵, 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 through a consortium approach, with CCDB as the lead organization. The project is funded by 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝗳ü𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝘁 (𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱), 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of local partners for effective climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience—especially in agriculture, water, environment, and livelihoods of climate-vulnerable communities.

Partners were introduced to project objectives and strategies, and a needs assessment was conducted to identify capacity gaps. CCDB will provide training and technical support to help partners integrate climate adaptation and resilience into their work.

A significant milestone of the workshop was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between CCDB and each local partner organization to solidify collaboration.

CCDB’s leadership, including Executive Director Juliate Keya Malakar, Program Head George Ashit Singha, RECAP Project Coordinator Md. Ashik Sardar, and Capacity Building Coordinator Mousumi Halder, actively participated in the workshop.

Together, we move forward in building resilient communities and sharing innovative solutions for climate action. 🌱🌏
