Women’s Resilience to Climate Change

The three-year project Increase the Resilience of Women and Girls through the Acceleration of Gender-Responsive Climate Change Actions in Bangladesh (October 2024 – September 2027), led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and supported by UN Women, is advancing gender-responsive climate action in one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable nations. With a budget of EUR 599,423 (BDT 25.47 million), the initiative is guided by the Climate Change Gender Action Plan (2023) and the National Adaptation Plan, aiming to strengthen institutional capacity, amplify women’s leadership, and ensure inclusive, equitable climate policies.

To date, the project has engaged key government focal points, completed capacity gap assessments for seven ministries, initiated MoEFCC’s costed workplan ahead of schedule, and assessed the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust’s capacity to apply gender guidelines. By July 2025, 69.86% of the Year-1 budget had been utilized, reflecting accelerated progress. Upcoming activities include tailored training on gender-responsive climate planning and budgeting, finalizing the costed workplan, and enhancing institutional coordination to address climate challenges with women and girls at the center.
