Carbon Emission Reduction Program
Recognizing the urgent need for affordable clean cooking solutions for marginalized coastal communities, particularly those facing vulnerability and scarcity due to frequent natural disasters, the Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) has envisioned improving the livelihoods of these residents by introducing carbon finance models in Bangladesh. In collaboration with the German development agency, Bread for the World (BftW), CCDB had piloted an energy-saving cookstove project, prioritizing women who are the primary cooks. After successful pilot phases, CCDB registered a microscale Programme of Activities (mPoA) and its first Voluntary Project Activity (VPA) under the Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) certification framework. The projects areas follows:

mPoA: Carbon Emission Reduction Program through CCDB Improved Cook Stove (ICS) Bangladesh (GS7443)

VPA1: Carbon Emission Reduction Program through CCDB Improved Cook Stove (ICS) in Bangladesh – VPA1-  Patharghata and Morrelganj Under this VPA, CCDB distributed 2,765 units of the innovative high-efficiency Improved Cook Stove (ICS) in the Patharghata sub-district of Barguna. The JCS, named “Banglar Unan, was developed over a two-year period in collaboration with the Institute of Fuel Research & Development (IFRD) of the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR).
