Involuntary Resettlement Program under Resettlement Unit of CCDB

Provides NGO Services for the Planning and Implementation of the Resettlement and Acquisition

The CCDB, one of the leading national NGOs established in 1973, as a continuation of Bangladesh Ecumenical Relief and Rehabilitation Services (BERRS) initiated in 1972, organized by World Council of Churches for responding the needs of the affected people after the Liberation War in 1971 and to undertake development interventions. The Involuntary Resettlement Program under the Resettlement Unit initiated in 1993, is an integral aspect of CCDB’s development activities, addressing economic and physical displacement of Project Affected Person (PAP) caused by infrastructure development projects of Bangladesh Govt. with financial assistance from development partners e.g. JICA, ADB, AIIB, World Bank, OPEC etc.

Since 1993, CCDB has engaged with 43 projects to provide NGO (Consultancy) services for the planning and implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP/RP)/ Land Acquisition Plan (LAP). These projects involved in acquisition and resettlement for the construction of Bridge, Highway, Metro Rail, and Port with the focus on providing resettlement assistance and skilled development training to enhance, or at least restore the livelihoods of all PAPs and vulnerable groups. Out of these, 31 Projects including Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, MRT Line-6 ((Metro Rail)) and Karnaphuli Tunnel Project have been successfully completed. On the other hand, 12 Projects are ongoing, including significant initiatives such as the Dhaka Elevated Expressway PPP Project, SASEC Dhaka-SyIhet Corridor Road Investments Project, and Matarbari Port Development Project (CPA Part).
