Last year CCDB celebrated 40 years of serving poor and marginalized communities in this country, in partnership with national and international resource sharing partners. During last Financial Year, Annual Report of CCDB was published on thematic areas of program interventions. This report is being presented on different projects being implemented on those thematic areas, so that readers can have a picture of achievements in each project, during this year (July 2014 to June 2015). CCDB has been operating projects through a consortium of several international resource sharing partners; some are bi-laterally resourced, for sector specific programs; some are in partnership with government’s Communication and Local Government Ministries for resettlement of internally displaced persons and some are self financed and self sustaining.....

In the course of a long journey towards ensuring just and caring society, CCDB celebrated it's 40th anniversary. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our beloved poor and disadvantage reference people for giving us the opportunity to contribute in changing their lives and livelihood in a meaningful way. We are also grateful to our resource sharing partners, concerned government officials and all other wellwishers to be with us for long 40 years. ....

The year 2013 is a significant for CCDB as we have reached the milestone of 40th year of our long journey. On the eve of celebrating this ruby jubilee, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our beloved reference people, resource sharing partners and all other friends and well wishers of CCDB for their continuous support and cooperation.

Apart from CPRP, CCDB is implementing several other programs with bilateral funding arrangement with different resource sharing partners including the government of Bangladesh. These includes Lighthouse Project (climate change adaptation), non formal education, promotion of peace, food security, resettlement, disaster risk reduction, etc

This report provided an objective picture of implementation of the above mentioned programs.

Comprehensive poverty reduction program (CPRP), the major development endeavor of CCDB was undertaken in 2007. It is a comprehensive and integrated approach embracing both service delivery and right based intervention to address poverty in an effective and meaningful way.

We have already completed the first phase of CPRP in June 2011 and started the second phase since July of the same year. During the course of implementation we faced several challenges and took several measures to address those. Retaining access of the poor people to financial capital was one the major challenge for us as we were compelled to cease the PMSC program. An imitative was taken to register the people's organizations under the cooperative act. This legal entity allowed them to operate savings and credit program within the members and thus access to credit was ensured.....

In the course of implementing CPRP, we had to face several challenge, like worldwide economic recession, adverse impacts of climate change, price hikes of essential food/non-food items, etc. which eroded our development achievements to some extent.

Halfway through the implementation of CPRP had to discontinue our longpracticed “People Managed Savings and Credit” (PMSC) Program, as this did not align within the framework of under presumption that is would constitute an infringement of the Microfinance Regulatory Act, enacted in early 2006.

Ceasing of the PMSC program was one of the major setbacks for CCDB, is considered to be a building block of the process of building peoples institutions and community empowerment.......

The year 2008-2009 has indeed been a big step forward for CCDB a step towards the realization of the goal set for CCDB's ongoing four-year (2007-2011) plan. This Annual Report provides an objective picture of our performance during the year.

As in the past, this year CCDB also placed the empowerment of the extreme poor, particularly women at the center stage of its development interventions. The lessons learnt from addressing poverty through a fair mix of Service Delivery Approach (SDA) and Right-Based Approach (RBA) was inspiring and these will certainly contribute to laying out our strategies for future interventions in a more effective way......
